Parish Information
Sacraments

The Sacraments of the Church
belong to the whole community of believers, and therefore, Nativity Church takes
seriously the parish community's role in both preparing for and celebrating the
Sacraments. We do so especially by integrating the preparation and celebration
of many of the Sacraments into the regular weekend Masses.
Baptism
In the Sacrament of Baptism,
the Church welcomes our newest and youngest members of the parish community.
Reconciliation
The Sacrament of Reconciliation
is offered on Saturday mornings from 9:00-10:00 AM, and any time on
request.
First Eucharist and First Reconciliation
These two sacraments are
provided for second grade students and older who are enrolled in our Faith
Formation Program or attend a Catholic School. Parents take an active role
in preparation of Reconciliation and Eucharist.

preparation.

Confirmation
The Sacrament of Confirmation
is offered for ninth grade students and older, who are enrolled in our Religious
Education program or a Catholic High School. Students, parents, and
sponsors attend a meeting, four rituals and a Day of Reflection. Adults
interested in being confirmed are asked to contact our Faith Formation Director.

R.C.I.A. - Rite of Christian
Initiation of Adults
The Rite of Christian
Initiation of Adults, or R.C.I.A., is the process through which adults and older
children (age 7+) are prepared to become members of the Catholic Church through
the initiation sacraments of baptism and/or confirmation and Eucharist. Sessions
are held on Sunday mornings in the Cenacle. We invite anyone who is
interested to call the Pastor or Parish Office for more information.

information about the R.C.I.A. program.
Anointing of the Sick
Communal celebrations of the
Anointing of the Sick take place periodically throughout the year. In addition,
this sacrament, which celebrates God's healing power and strength, is available
at any time for those who need it. Please contact the parish office to arrange
to celebrate the Sacrament. Those preparing to undergo surgery or expecting a
hospital stay are encouraged to call the parish office prior to hospitalization
to make arrangements.
Matrimony
The Church teaches that the
Sacrament of Marriage is a commitment of life and love which stretches through
the lifetime of the couple and which must grow and develop every day. In order
to prepare for this sacrament, anyone seeking to be married in the Church must
contact the church office at least four months prior to the wedding. Interviews
with the priest, special classes and other preparations are necessary before a
couple can celebrate their marriage in Church. Additional steps are required
when one of the parties is under nineteen years of age, when there has been a
prior marriage, or when there is a premarital pregnancy.
Please contact the parish
office at 407-322-3961 for more information about the sacraments.
